Left Bank of the Hudson: A Short Reflection
My first book, Left Bank of the Hudson: Jersey City and the Artists of 111 1st Street, will be released by Fordham University Press on October 3, 2017.
Next week.
That night, Book Culture will host my book launch in New York. Yes, I’m starting the public side of my professional writing career by facing a Manhattan audience. Some might call me brave. Foolhardy might be a better word. Humor aside, I’m beyond excited.
A few days later on October 7, 2017 at WORD, I’ll discover how Jersey City–the setting and larger subject of my book–will receive my work. I hope that my adopted town finds my telling to be fair and true.
Over the next two months, I have a dizzying and ambitious schedule: I’ll be traveling to the Rust Belt, the Research Triangle, and the Twin Cities. In between and after, I’ll return to Jersey City to participate in the annual Art & Studio Tour and other local events. I can’t wait to meet readers and listen to their thoughts.
In a few days, I’ll see my book sitting on a bookstore shelf for the very first time. I wonder how that will feel.
