Autumn Happenings

This week marks two years since Midnight Rambles: H. P. Lovecraft in Gotham was published. When I began writing my book, I hoped to contribute to the lore and literature surrounding the gentleman from Providence and to challenge certain myths encasing him. Judging from the ongoing interest in Midnight Rambles, I believe that I have accomplished those goals.

On Halloween, I chatted with journalist Michael Deibert on his podcast Notes From the World about Lovecraft, his New York interlude, and its impact on his fiction. You can hear the conversation here.

SFRA Review, a journal “devoted to surveying the contemporary field of speculative fiction, media, and scholarship” published a positive review of Midnight Rambles in its latest issue. The critic remarked that my scholarship forwarded “innovative claims about Lovecraft’s personality” and that my writing “deftly and thoroughly” addressed the more difficult and complex elements of Lovecraft’s beliefs (i.e., his stark bigotry). You can read the review here.

If you read Midnight Rambles and enjoy it, I hope that you’ll share the book with others.
